In the days leading up to Peters exhibition in Salzburg, we visited him at his studio in Tyrol, Austria. Based on the foot of the Alps, the space carries the particular stillness of the mountains, unhurried, weighty, and clear. It is easy to see how this landscape shapes Peter's practice: the patience with which pigments are left to mature, the deliberate layering of surfaces, the sense that each gesture is made only when it is truly ready. The alpine light, shifting almost imperceptibly through the day, fell across canvases in various stages of completion a quiet reminder that here, process and place are inseparable.
