Parallel Vienna

For the 2024 edition of Parallel Vienna, Galerie Tassilo Usner was pleased to showcase

Peter Zunder’s solo exhibition „RAGE“.

Peter Zunder's series "RAGE" brought urban influences into abstract art. Inspired by worn-out advertising pillars and painted-over graffiti, the works explored wear and tear, transience, and a touch of street culture. For Zunder, the series was a place of artistic freedom in which not much remained of the original image at the end – a process reminiscent of life’s changes.

New layers were built up, layer by layer, with acrylic spray. A recurring element was the white color that appeared in each of the works. This fragment served as the common thread in the midst of the artistic transformation. In the final stage, Zunder applied a layer of oxide black, which acted as a resting point and lent new depth to the underlying colors.

Zunder described these works as an act of letting go, in which the original structures continued to fade and made way for new, unexpected forms. Each of the works left room for individual interpretation – every observer could discover something different and personal in them.
